Title: Assistant Volleyball Coach


Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant will assist in all aspects of developing the volleyball program and promoting sports at DCCC.  Full Time position

  • To understand and commit to the Mission of the College~“To provide challenging and diverse opportunities for the pursuit of learning and to enhance personal and community development in a responsible, accessible and learner-centered environment. “
  • Assist in weight and conditioning programs, daily practice plans, on the floor coaching, game preparation, team travel and promotion of DCCC.
  • Recruitment of quality student/athletes (school and home visits).
  • Assist with providing academic support, advising student/athletes.
  • A positive attitude and promote sportsmanship between all athletes.

                   Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Previous coaching experience required. 
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • A valid Kansas driver’s license.

Coaching Positions


Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach


Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, duties for the Head Men’s Basketball Coach will consist of managing and coaching the men’s basketball program, including, recruiting and advising athletes, public relations, fundraising and other responsibilities within the boundaries of the rules and regulations of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, the National Junior College Athletic Association and Dodge City Community College.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ To provide challenging and diverse opportunities for the pursuit of learning and to enhance personal and community development in a responsible, accessible, and learner-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of basketball to lead and develop the men’s basketball program.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Direct practice games.
  • Schedule all games and scrimmages.
  • Advise and enroll basketball players in classes.
  • Knowledge and ability to recruit student athletes in accordance with NJCAA, Jayhawk Conference and College regulations and guidelines.
  • Obtain transportation and lodging for games and scrimmages.
  • Purchase, inventory and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain men’s basketball budget.
  • Aid and supervise work-study students.
  • Coordinate men’s basketball fund raising events, through Athletic Director approval.
  • Maintain scholarship limitations amounts with student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain off-season program for players according to all NJCAA and KJCCC guidelines.
  • Knowledge of resistance and weight training principles, techniques, facilities and equipment.
  • Promote the men’s basketball program through involvement within the community and Alumni Booster Association.
  • Assist the department with all assigned duties and solicit items for the Alumni Booster Auction.
  • Attend all Athletic Department meetings and other College committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

 

                   Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree Prior collegiate coaching and recruiting experience in the sport.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA and KJCCC rules and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to advise and monitor student athletes.
  • Ability to work with staff members and men’s basketball team members.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional students.
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • College coaching/playing experience

Title: Director of Athletics


Responsibilities:

The Director of Athletics (AD) shall be responsible for providing the oversight and leadership of all athletic programs and activities at the college including planning, administration, revenue development, athletic fundraising, and budget development and monitoring. The AD serves as the primary liaison to the Jayhawk Conference and conference administrators. The AD organizes and operates all phases of the intercollegiate sport programs and teams within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Dodge City Community College, the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association. The AD is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal regulations including, but not limited to, all areas of Title IX, etc. In addition, the AD will take the lead role in complying with all Title IX resolution agreements approved by the Board of Trustees. The Director of Athletics reports directly to the President of the College.

                   Required qualifications
  • Ability to work harmoniously with various public and diverse populations; individuals, small and large groups of administrators, faculty, staff and students.
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in written form.
  • Basic knowledge of fund raising for non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity of NJCAA and KJCCC rules.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in fund raising.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in one or more athletic programs.
  • Administrative, compliance and budget experience.
  • Master’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Prefer prior AD experience.
