    Volleyball Season Outlook

The Lady Conquistadors are coming into this season with a lot of new faces. They are returning two players, starters from the previous year.

The team has twelve new players, all freshmen and one sophomore transfer. Defensively the team looks stronger with the addition of two defensive specialists. The responsibility is now shared between the two of them and that should have a positive impact.

The net presence is evident. Big blockers are expected to continue the DC3 tradition at the net. Last year’s Victoria Cross finished #1 in the country in solo blocks and the team was in the top 10 in the same category. The new players are expected to repeat last year’s success.

The team is eager and willing to learn the system and compete at this level. They are a close group and they help each other and take care of each other.

The schedule again is grueling. All players report for practice August 1st and season starts August 17 at the OPSU scrimmage. The team will play in 38 matches this season starting August 24th in Roswell New Mexico at the NMMI classic. The team will compete against ranked teams again all year.

First home game is October 28th against Colby, and Saturday October 26th against McPherson College in Wichita, will be the last regular season match.

The support the team received last year was amazing and they hope to keep that going from the local residents and volleyball enthusiasts, and also from the areas surrounding schools.
