On February 15th, the DC3 Electrical Power Technician (EPT) program hosted their sixth annual Career Day. EPT students made presentations to industry members regarding their learned skills, career aspirations, and certificates that they were working toward. They were also able to demonstrate their lineman-related lab skills such as utility pole climbing and various other electrical skills.
Several area industry partners attended and were able to interview the EPT students. Those partners invited to attend included Wheatland, Midwest, J&J, Sunflower, and Garden City Municipal. After the students’ presentations, the industry members were given the opportunity to speak with DC3 Professors of Electrical Power and Technology Danny Hopkins and Aaron Robertson about the event as well as the program, itself.
Several students were selected by various industries for possible internship opportunities as a result of their presentations at the EPT Career Day. Historically, the EPT career day has been very successful at procuring internships and employment opportunities for students as well as benefiting industry partners by providing them an opportunity to see the results of the training that is done in the DC3 EPT program as well as to view program improvements.
