Two members of the Kappa Psi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors society, Briseida Armendariz and Brenda Hernandez, were selected as nominees for the All-State Community College Academic Team ceremonies. To be considered, all applicants from across the state of Kansas had to submit all college transcripts to date, a biographical statement, and letters of recommendation.
Nominees from the state of Kansas were honored in at a meeting of the Kansas State Legislature, where Governor Sam Brownback declared February 16th to be Phi Theta Kappa Day. Following the meeting, the nominees were then treated to a luncheon in their honor. Attending were student advisors, college administration, board members, and university presidents.
Closing the ceremony, nominees received several awards, including medallions, certificates, and a $300.00 stipend. The applications for the All-State Community College Academic Team will reopen to Phi Theta Kappa members in September. #ConqPride
