DC3 Distinguished Alumnus Becomes Major Donor

May 08, 2017

Dodge City Community College Foundation has received a major donation in the amount of $20,000 from distinguished alumnus and owner of Farmer’s Bank & Trust W.R. Robbins. The money donated has been earmarked entirely for scholarships, benefitting students who have established an interest in Business, Leadership, or Entrepreneurship.

"The foundation is excited for the opportunity to create a new scholarship fund for business majors,” said Jerad Busch, Vice-President of the Dodge City Community College Foundation.

On Thursday, April 27th, Mr. Robbins held a presentation in which he spoke to students about his personal path to success, the importance of pursuing one’s dreams, and the inner workings of the banking industry. The presentation was well-attended by students, faculty, and staff alike.  “Donor W.R. Robbins not only set up the fund, but also took time out of his schedule to come speak to a packed house of students in the DC3 Little Theater,” Busch said.

“We are so grateful to Mr. W.R. Robbins,” stated Chris Haselhorst, DC3 Foundation Director. “Mr. Robbins is a former student athlete and graduate of Dodge City Community College as well as the 2001 Distinguished Alumnus for DC3. He is a firm believer in lasting friendships, pursuing your passions, and sticking to your values. Mr. Robbins has committed to being a friend of the DC3 Foundation and we look forward to working with him for many, many years to come.”

DC3 President Harold Nolte added, “Donors like Mr. Robbins are so important to this institution. We are incredibly thankful for his generosity and we look forward to seeing him get a return on his investment in the future of our students.”
