Night Custodian

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Clean assigned building, including vacuuming, cleaning chalkboards, washing windows, dust mopping, wet mopping classrooms and entrance ways, and sweeping sidewalk areas surrounding assigned building.
  • Replace light bulbs when needed.
  • Inspect each room for any physical defects, fire and/or safety hazards and reports to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Handles clean up and set up of night time activities in assigned buildings as required.
  • Closes drapes and shuts off lights after night classes and activities.
  • Performs emergency tasks such as boarding up windows and putting down ice melt on sidewalks as necessary.
  • Spray buffs classrooms and hallway floors when necessary and accessible.
  • Assists in cleaning of other buildings as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Responsible for conformance with the policies as established by the College’s Board of Trustees and the procedures that apply to the position.

Qualifications

Desired

  • High School/GED
  • Ability to operate and learn to operate utility vehicles, and other maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to converse and relay messages on campus two-way radio.
  • Ability to read work requests written in English.

Preferred

  • A valid driver’s license

  • None

Physical Requirements (with or without assistance)

  • Ability to life and carry 15-30 lb. loads over 50 yards multiple times in a 4 hour period.
  • Ability to work on feet (standing, walking, constant movement) for 4 hour period.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb, crawl, and lift objects for a 4 hour period.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate tools, objects, and equipment.
  • Ability to read instructions.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate custodial equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to communicate with other employees.
