Dodge City Community College (DC3) announced Wednesday, April 22 that new tuition and fee rates have been approved by the DC3 Board of Trustees. These new rates will begin with the Summer 2020 term.
One of the biggest announced changes affects tuition and fees for online classes. These rates, which have been higher historically than face-to-face classes, will now be based upon a student’s residency classification.
“DC3 students taking online classes will now be charged tuition, incidental fees, and technology fees in the same manner as face-to-face classes, rather than the current rate of $135 per credit hour,” Dr. Jane Holwerda, DC3 vice president of academic affairs, said. “Due to the current COVID-19 situation, which is causing us to move our classes online, these new rates will result in substantial savings for our students.”
Regarding online classes, Holwerda said that DC3 general education summer classes scheduled to begin in May and early June will be offered in an online format only. The status of clinical and practicum sessions is still pending, however.
Some of the other announced changes include: the elimination of registration and parking fees for all students, and the elimination of technology and lab fees for high school students enrolled in Excel in Career Technical Education classes. Although EDUKAN tuition will remain unchanged at $150 per hour, a few of the EDUKAN charges also have been restructured.
