JETMORE – Jeffrey “Jeff” Kenneth Cole, 60, passed away Aug.7, at Hutchinson Regional Hospital, Hutchinson.

He was born May 7, 1964, in Hays, Kan., the son of Kenneth R. “Ken” and Phyllis Jean Naylor Cole. A lifetime area resident, he was a Professor of Diesel Technology for Dodge City Community College (DC3).

Cole was a member of Jetmore Methodist Church, a trustee, on the praise team, and part of the Methodist Men’s Group. He was a 4-H leader, State Skills Advisor for DC3, ASE Certified Master Mechanic, NHRA, and SRCA Dragstrip in Great Bend. He enjoyed drag racing, camping, fishing, reading and fixing anything and everything

On Dec. 18, 1982, he married Michelle L. Betts in Garden City, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include: his parents, Kenneth “Ken” and Phyllis Cole, Jetmore; a daughter, Audree (Ben) Worth, Jetmore; sister, Stephanie (Mike) Ochs, Jetmore; brother, Mike (Justin Scott) Cole; two grandchildren, Shanaye Michelle Worth and Addison Kenleigh Worth, Jetmore; mother-in-law, Evelyn Betts, Garden City; two sisters-in-law, Sherri (Greg) Suderman, Garden City and Vicki (Steve) Krehbiel, Holcomb; seven nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.

Cole was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leon Betts.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, at Jetmore Methodist Church with Pastor Maria Grimm presiding. Family requests that guests wear casual dress in purple and gold for DC3 and they wear their favorite ball cap. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, with family present from 4-6 p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Inurnment will be at a later date.
