On Friday, November 10th, the DC3 STEM Club spent half the day touring Spirit Aero Systems in Wichita, KS. Hunter Henderson, STEM Activities Coordinator, and 11 students were in attendance. They met with some of the senior management of the facility and got the chance to view aircrafts being assembled. “The students loved seeing the assembly of the aircrafts,” said Henderson. “Seeing the process from starting with a piece of aluminum to the finished product was a very neat thing to see! Also, a very neat thing about this trip was that we had the chance to see some of the parts for some of our military’s aircrafts. The students and I also got the opportunity to speak with a former Colonel in the U.S. Army who worked at the Pentagon for a number of years!”
“This trip was life changing for one of our students,” Henderson continued. “Prior to going on this trip, she was looking at majoring in Forensic Science, but is now changing majors to mechanical engineering because she was so inspired and wants a career in a field like this! Overall, we all had a blast and learned a lot!”
