Statement Regarding the Temporary Closing of the DC3 Child Development Center

Published April 4, 2020

Dodge City Community College is honored to provide many essential services to Dodge City and Ford County. One of the most important services provided is daycare for working families through the DC3 Child Development Center (CDC).

Most families with children attending the CDC were affected by the Stay-at-Home order for the State of Kansas by Governor Kelly in Executive Order No. 20-16. Initially, the CDC remained open after the order to assist parents who were providing essential services to Dodge City and surrounding communities. As of April 3, 2020, enrollment in the CDC has declined to five students, and the parents of those children advised CDC staff that they could arrange other childcare during the Stay-at-Home order. So based on these factors, the decision has been made to temporarily close the CDC during the Stay-at-Home order or until other circumstances warrant its reopening.

The college appreciates the understanding and support from the community during these unforeseen and unusual circumstances. Please be assured the college deeply cares about the children and families in our community and will resume providing daycare services in hopefully the near future.
