Six Dodge City Community College (DC3) band students have been selected to perform at an intercollegiate band concert at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) In-Service Workshop on Feb. 25, in Wichita, Kan.
“This honor band is composed of students from every college in the state of Kansas, from 2-year schools to D1 universities,” DC3 Band Director, Joel Vinson, said. “Our students will get to learn and perform with students from all parts of Kansas coming from different backgrounds.”
Vinson said the six students—who were selected through recorded auditions or upon his recommendations—will be performing in a full-sized ensemble and will rehearse all day on Feb. 24. They will also rehearse the morning of Feb. 25, before their final performance, which is later that day at 3 p.m.
DC3 students selected for the honor band include: Trevor Albert (percussion), a sophomore from Minneola, Kan.; Isaac Fuentes (horn), a freshman from Rockdale, Texas; Esmeralda Gomez Garcia (flute), a sophomore from Dodge City, Kan.; Allison Haselhorst (flute), a freshman from Dodge City, Kan.; Annia Llamas (alto saxophone), a sophomore from Dodge City, Kan.; and Parker Holuska (trumpet), a sophomore from Dodge City, Kan.
Currently there are approximately 20 students in the DC3 band program, which includes both the college’s pep band and the Wind Ensemble.
