Director of Financial Aid

Under the general director of the Dean of Student Services, provide direct supervision of the award process for scholarships, grants in aid, and the Title IV Student Financial Aid Programs. Provide leadership for excellent customer service including advising and counseling students and parents with regard to eligibility and availability of student financial aid through institutional, state, federal, and private sources.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the application, award, and notification process for scholarships, grants in aid, and Title IV Student Financial Aid Programs
  • Coordinate scholarships and awards with the Alumni Booster Association and the Endowment Association
  • Perform essential financial aid functions in an I Series electronic environment utilizing the Jenzabar Teams 2000 integrated software
  • Resolve student, staff and faculty complaints related to financial aid
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct financial aid information nights for students, parents, and area high school staff
  • Advise students, parents, and others seeking information about financial aid
  • Hold membership and participate in the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Rocky Mountain Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators
  • Monitor satisfactory academic progress according to institutional and federal policy
  • Maintain current financial aid institutional policies and procedures
  • Assist the Dean of Students in the coordination of Student Services activities
  • Evaluate department employees in accordance with College policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students

Qualifications

Desired

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in managing and leading people
  • Ability to create and work in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft applications and ability to learn new computer applications
  • Ability to keep accurate records with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to complete accurate institutional, state, and federal reports

Preferred

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements (with or without assistance)

  • Able to input data in computer for extended periods
  • Mobility to escort visitors and distribute materials
  • Able to bend, reach and stoop to perform job functions
  • Able to lift and carry 20 lbs.
  • Able to speak, hear and communicate in an office setting and on the telephone
