Security & Counseling Secretary

Under the general direction of the Vice President Student Services, the Security and Counseling Secretary will perform administrative duties to support the Security Director and the Director of Counselling, Testing and Training with administrative tasks.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ To provide challenging and diverse opportunities for the pursuit of learning and to enhance personal and community development in a responsible, accessible and learner-centered environment.

  • Compile and maintain security incidents, statistics, records, reports and daily campus crime logs required for federal compliance.
  • Update and maintain the department website.
  • Process incident reports and keep logs of all activities.
  • Assist with daily operations including making copies, prepare requisitions, distribute purchase orders, and assist students as required.
  • Work with students and staff involving campus safety & security concerns.
  • Serve as liaison with local, state, federal law enforcement agencies and emergency personnel.
  • Assist with expenditures and budget activity for appropriate use of Security funds in cooperation with the Director of Security.
  • Assist with scheduling to ensure sufficient coverage on all shifts in cooperation with the Director of Security.
  • Travel for departmental activities.
  • Monitor usage of Security vehicles and maintain service/maintenance logs.
  • General Office Duties.
  • Serve as secretary for department committees as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all records, reports and incidents.
  • Provide secretarial and receptionist support the Director Counseling, Testing and Training.
  • Maintain counseling appointment schedules and calendars.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School/GED education
  • Prior clerical experience
  • Extensive computer and office equipment experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students and the community
  • Able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license

Preferred

  • Prior law enforcement or security related experience
  • Associates Degree
