What to Bring Checklist

IDs & Money

  • Social security card (required along with photo ID for campus jobs)
  • Driver’s license and auto insurance card
  • Current medical insurance card
  • Checkbook and debit card

Personal Items

  • Variety of warm and cold weather attire
  • Clothes hangars
  • Tension rod to cover windows or closets in Jackson and Becker Halls
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Toiletries, make-up, and hair supplies
  • Umbrella
  • Regular medications

Supplies

  • Backpack and school supplies
  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Sewing and small tool kit
  • Cleaning supplies (students are responsible for cleaning their own room and bathroom)

For Your Room

  • Bedspread and/or comforter with blankets
  • Extra-long twin sheets
  • Pillow and pillow case
  • Battery-powered alarm clock
  • Surge protectors
  • Small fan (all buildings have central air and heat)
  • Laundry basket and detergent
  • Kitchen items (cups, plates, bowls, utensils, dish soap)
  • Items to use on stove (Jackson, Shelden and Becker Hall residents only)
  • Approved appliances: 4.5 cubic foot refrigerator, small microwave, Television, DVD player, game consoles
  • Desk and floor lamp
  • Room décor
  • Putty or Pull Tab Command strips for hanging items on walls (NO tape or Velcro)
  • Wastebasket
  • Computer and/or electronic devices
  • Message board and dry erase markers (for door)
  • Trash can and liners

What Not to Bring

The following items are prohibited from DC3 residence halls:

  • Appliances with open coil, such as: toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates, electric pans, George Foreman grills, etc.
  • Candles, incense, lanterns or anything with an open flame
  • Drugs and prescriptions to persons other than yourself
  • Drug paraphernalia, hookahs, and similar devices
  • Halogen lamps
  • Pets (except fish)
  • Alcohol or alcohol containers (full or empty)
  • Weapons or weapon parts, such as: firearms, ammunition, knives longer than 4 inches, etc.
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Fireworks
  • Explosives
  • Amplifiers
  • Hoverboards
  • Skateboards

Additional items may be prohibited throughout the year at the determination of DC3 Residence Life staff.
